Internet is not a substitute for good professional veterinary care, experience and judgement. For emergencies contact
your local veterinarian.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone can do a computer Internet search by typing in "Ask a Vet" (or similar or related words) to obtain
many web sites that provide or claim to provide free information or help for your pet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW IT WORKS: Today there are many Ask A Vet web sites on line. Basically there are three types of
Ask a Vet services.
(1) The type that costs money. You send an e-mail and the vet or related specialist e-mails you back
personally.
(2) The free type you can e-mail your problem to the vet. Of all those who e-mail with a question, the
vet usually selects one and posts the question and answer on their web site.
(3) The free type that is an information source. They provide information prepared by veterinarians or
other specialists in the field. This can be in the form of articles, lists, etc.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
petglutton.com suggests you keep the following in mind when seeking Internet Veterinary advice:
-        If your question is about an urgent or emergency medical condition or situation it is best to contact
your local veterinarian.
-        Think about who owns the site you visit. Are they reputable? Is the goal to educate or to sell
products or services? Sometimes taking the time to look up articles on free credible web sites about
your concern is far better than paying for or even getting free advice from a vet you don't know and who
doesn't know your pet.

The following list will grow as petglutton.com researches more and more on-line veterinary information
services. petglutton.com would like to hear about your good experiences and warn others in the
community if you have bad experiences with any of the following:
